Amazon image size requirements

Amazon has a hard rule and a recommendation. The minimum for the zoom feature to switch on is 1,000 px on the longest side; below that, buyers cannot zoom in, which lowers conversions. The recommended size is 1,600 px or larger. This preset outputs a 1,600 × 1,600 px square, which satisfies both.

How to resize your image for Amazon

  1. Drop your product photo onto the box above (or click to browse).
  2. Keep the Amazon 1600 × 1600 preset and "pad to exact size with a white background" turned on.
  3. Leave the format on JPG — Amazon's preferred format.
  4. Click Resize image and download the result.

Heads up: this tool pads your photo onto a white canvas, but it does not remove a coloured or busy background. If your product was shot on a non-white surface, generate a pure-white version first with the Amazon white background generator, then it's already Amazon-ready.

Check your image passes Amazon's rules

Not sure your main image is compliant? Run it through the Amazon image requirements checker — it flags size, aspect ratio and non-white backgrounds before you list. For the full rulebook, read the Amazon product image requirements checklist.

Frequently asked questions

What size should an Amazon product image be?

At least 1,600 px on the longest side is recommended; 1,000 px is the minimum for zoom. A 1,600 × 1,600 px square is the safe choice for the main image.

Does Amazon require a white background?

Yes — the main product image must be pure white (RGB 255, 255, 255). This resizer pads onto white but won't remove an existing coloured background; use the white background generator for that.

What is the best file format for Amazon images?

JPEG. It's Amazon's preferred format and gives the best quality-to-size ratio for photographic product images.
